How to guarantee the catching of a cold: mention to at least a couple of people that you never get sick.

I did exactly that, and despite 'knocking on wood' every time, I've got a cold. So after returning from Austin on Friday night, I've spent nearly the entire weekend on the couch watching cooking shows and drinking gallons of tea. Which isn't an entirely bad way to spend a weekend, except for that whole sore throat/stuffy nose thing.
