August 10, 2006 | Not Dead Yet

I've been working out of the office all week, which is why I seem to be a little absent. As much as I'd like to tell you more about it, I won't. However, I will tell you that I had the pleasure of trying some pastries from Tartine Bakery in San Francisco yesterday. They were amazing, and completely unforgettable. I never thought I could fall in love with an almond crossiant, but I was so WRONG.

I don't know about you, but "Batman Begins" completely blew me away...except for Katie Holmes, who is terrible. Just inexcusably terrible.

But other than Katie Holmes' putrid performance, the movie was outstanding. I was really ready for them to do a Batman movie that was dark and humorous, but less...ridiculous than the Tim Burton ones. And then the unmentionable ones.

This is a lot to write about Batman; I just found it really refreshing that they got it right. I'm so impatient to see how they do the Joker; and with whom. Or maybe they could have Katie Holmes play Two Face. I bet that would not suck at all.

For anyone who is confused, this is in response to the "quick" selection for today.

I've been obsessively watching a David Attenborough documentary about insects (Life in the Undergrowth - absolutely amazing), so had to comment on this photo - it's fantastic. :)

You know, that place is seriously 5 and a half blocks from my apartment, and I've never been. I've walked by lots of times, and it's always packed. I've only tried one thing and I completely can't think of the name of the thing. It's kind of like a giant, hard marshmallow in the shape of a Hershey's kiss.

Anyway, I should go sometime... but I doubt I'll get around to it. heh. :)

Oh Whitney, I am in love with this photo. It's so enchanting. And Tartine Bakery? Excuse my language but FUCK YES. That is one of my FAVORITE places to go, EVER. You really have to call me the next time you're in the city so we can go there together. Then we can go to Beard Papa's for cream puffs and Bombay Ice Creamery for some Rosewater Ice Cream, and Cha Cha Cha to have tapas for dinner. :D

I wish I could have been IM'ing! I've actually been on location all week, so I haven't really had access to a computer at all!

and just WHY have you NOT been IM'ing then? *harumph*

Thanks JC. No new camera or lens...maybe I'm just getting better at working with what I've got. :)

Woman, don't talk to me about pastries right now! I am hungering.

did you get a new camera and/or lens recently? your photos seem to have gotten even better lately.
