SIGG Decoration

It's been on the chilly side here in the Bay Area the past couple of weeks. It's not so bad during the day, but going out at night definitely requires a coat, scarf, and gloves. Okay so maybe I require a coat, scarf, and gloves. The point is, despite this drop in temperature we have yet to turn on our heater. I put on a sweatshirt, or find an excuse to turn on the oven to help heat the place up, but no heater! I'm so proud of us.

However, I a little while ago I washed the few dishes that were sitting in the sink - not out of necessity, but because I knew it would help warm up my hands. It may be time to turn up the heat after all...

I had to turn the heater on! ugh.

when Adam and I first moved here I laughed at the people wearing wool coats with scarves and mitts. I was still wearing only a sweater. At home we wouldn't break out the scarves until it was actually freezing out. Now nearly 2 years later, I'm still just wearing a sweater, but I'm thinking about my scarves. I think I'm getting soft.

Yep, hot dish water is a nice remedy for the chills.

I'm in Michigan where the bitter winds are blowing and the snow is swirling. I have such a hard time getting warm during days like this. And it's just starting!

I wash the dishes myself for the hot water! That's so funny.

When J and I lived in our apartment in Mt. View, the heater needed to have the pilot light lit before we could use it. We like a cool abode, so we waited awhile before we lit it. And then we realized it was kind of tricky, so we wanted to have PG&E light it for us, and we had to make an appointment. Then we procrastinated on making an appointment... for quite some time. Our apartment had leaky windows and NO insulation. We like a cool house, but not a frozen one. It got to the point that late at night when it came time take off the clothes, put on jammies, and crawl into bed we were vocally cringing at the cold until we could crawl under the down comforter. We'd say, "we really gotta call PG&E!" We finally did, but it took awhile. I could try to claim that that was being environmentally conscious, but it was really sloth.

We have turned on the heather at our house yet, though. That's not sloth in this case, though. Luckily, we have such great insulation and we're bordered by other houses that we don't need it just yet.

Yeah, if you are heating up the water to warm up your hands you might as well heat up the air instead.
