As I type this, I am sitting in a cubicle wearing fingerless gloves and am seriously considering putting on my coat. In the past week or so, it has apparently been decided that the little corner of the building where I work is the new MEAT LOCKER. It's 2008, how hard is it to consistently heat a building? I would bet money on the fact that it's probably warmer outside.
On a completely unrelated note, I ordered an iMac on Monday. I plan on going into further detail about this once it's actually here. But until then, those of you with Macs, tell me a few things...are there any secrets I should know? Any software I HAVE to have? I use a G5 at work everyday, but I don't really fiddle with it too much because it's not mine. Now that I'll have my very own Mac to mess with, I want the scoop!

Seconding Camino. The only reason I picked up FireFox was because I needed FireFTP and at the time, Camino didn't do the whole "tool" thing (I have no idea if they added that functionality).
I bought a Mac laptop last year and I love it. I actually hate going to work and using my PC. I love the widgets that you can set up - I have a clock that tells me what time it is in London (even though I'm in Tennessee - hey, it makes me happy) among other things there. It didn't take me long to learn the "ins and outs" of changing over to a Mac. There's lots of help out there. My biggest hurdle was going from desktop to laptop.
Love that VLC program mentioned in the previous comment.
Congrats on the mac purchase!
My office is set to freeze your soul too and it's a miserable existence. I try to remember to bring my mittens, but they make surfing celebrity gossip kind of hard :)
Walk toward the light...walk toward it...=)
Stuff I can't live without:
Twitteriffic (free) - Twitter client
NetNewsWire - RSS reader supreme
ecto (costs $) - best-of-breed blog client
Camino - like Firefox, but more stable and faster, for when Safari don't cut it
Quicksilver - God's app launcher
MenuMeters - handy for diagnostics at a glance
VLC - all-purpose video viewer
Adium - think Trillian for the Mac
All free except where noted. Go go go =)
