Vacation Brain

First, if you haven't read this yet, you really should. I know it's getting tons of press and stuff already, but I don't care. Rest in peace John Hughes.

Second, and much less important/interesting: the response to the hair has been good (there is a crappy cell phone photo floating around - I'll take a proper one soon). And after almost a week, I'm not totally shocked when I look in the mirror anymore. Though, now some of my more bling-tastic pairs of glasses don't seem to work so well. It looks like I'm just trying too hard. Thankfully, I already had a couple of less blingy glasses on order.

Speaking of glasses, the boyfiance and I were in an optometrists store last night and we both tried on a few different pairs of frames. After we've left and are a few blocks away he looks over at me and stops abruptly and asks, "Those are YOUR glasses, right?" Clearly, I have a problem. At least they take up less room than shoes.

Third, this is my favorite album to listen to right now. I blame it on seeing the Romero Brothers at the symphony in Bellingham. Also, I've always been a sucker for some good acoustic guitar.

Fourthly, you have no idea how much I was looking forward to 500 Days of Summer. The preview sucked me in with the whole Smiths thing and it became the top movie on my "Must See" list. We went to see it on Tuesday night (for Casey's Birthday!) and it wasn't exactly what I was expecting, though it was still cute and funny and also a little bit sad. I've been both people in that couple in previous relationships and at one point my breath caught in my chest because there was one conversation that just hit home for me pretty hard. But that didn't make me like it any less. In fact, it may have made me like it more. Anyways. You should go see it.

Finally, Not Martha linked to this recipe on Orangette a couple weeks ago, and it's the best thing ever. I pretty much always have the ingredients for it on hand, it's perfect for lunch, it's great by itself or over some salad greens. It's the perfect quick and easy "I'm too tired to make myself something to eat" recipe and I can't not share it.

Happy Friday!
