The One Where I Buy a Clarisonic
November 01, 2011

Saturday Evening View

Up until about a week ago, I had still been cleansing my face with oil. My skin was soft, any pimples that showed up seemed to disappear quickly, so I was happy with how it was working. And then I had a breakout on both temples. A fine crop of pimples in multiple sizes. I was not pleased. After those had started to clear up a little, I noticed that the weird pimples under my chin, the ones that drove me to the oil cleansing method, were back and had no intention of leaving.

So I went to Sephora. (I needed hair stuff anyways.) I ended up coming home with a Boscia "Oil-Free Must Haves" kit (I can't find it online!) which contains a cleanser, some moisturizers, some oil blotting tissues, and a couple of other pore-minimizing oil-combating items. I've been using it for a little over a week, and so far so good. I think it's too soon to tell if it's what I'll stick with, but I'm happy so far. But, even with this new routine, a couple of the weird pimples on my chin decided to come out of hibernation and were now big ol' painful pimples. To say I was frustrated was an under-statement. I feel like I've been dealing with some form of acne since the age of 12. That's over TWO DECADES of bad skin! I decided it had to do SOMETHING DRASTIC. So I ordered a Clarisonic Mia.

This was not a totally random purchase. Someone I know (and trust) recently wrote a post on the very same product, and someone I don't know did too. I even went and looked at some before and after photos on the Clarisonic site. At this point, I felt like I didn't have anything to lose, so why not buy an oversized toothbrush for my face?

It arrived today, and is currently charging. I'm hoping to use it tonight to see how it goes. I'm trying not to get my hopes up, but we'll see. I also figure this will give me something to write about for the next 30 days since NaPloPoMo started today, and I decided to unofficially participate again. Not that I intend to write about the Clarisonic every day, but you better believe there are going to be updates. Frequently.
