Spiffy!

Yesterday was my five year anniversary with the boy-fiance. I celebrated by accidentally cutting a giant chunk of hair from the top of my head. Fun times!

Perhaps you're wondering why "I" instead of "we"? The boy-fiance had to travel to the other side of the U.S. for work, and he's been there for about a week and a half. We actually celebrated before he left, and we'll probably celebrate again when he gets back (I've offered to make him a giant home-made dinner of his choosing since he's been eating at restaurants every night).

The chunk of hair? Well, it seems that while cutting your own hair may save you tons of money, it doesn't prevent you from making dumb mistakes like grabbing for the regular scissors instead of the thinning shears and then haphazardly chopping off a section of your hair. I'm less upset about it than I expected myself to be. The hair is short, and it grows fast. I've also been told it's not that obvious (I checked with people who were tall enough to see the top of my head).

Aside from the hair incident, I did actually celebrate my anniversary. Some friends and I all decided to try out the new kosher restaurant that opened up in Mountain View. Everything on the menu sounded good, but I went for the burger with the addition of caramelized onions and lamb bacon (on the salty side, but still surprisingly good). I also tried their Ceasar salad because the dressing had anchovies and it was topped with fried capers. Possibly one of the better Ceasar salads I've ever had. The dessert menu looked tasty too, but we opted to go down the street and get gelato.

I couldn't have asked for a better way to celebrate my anniversary while the boy-fiance is out of town. In fact, I think I might suggest he travel out of town every year on our anniversary so there's an excuse to celebrate multiple times!
